Variable products<\/strong> in WooCommerce let you offer a set of variations on a product, with control over prices, stock, image and more for each variation. They can be used for a product like a shirt, where you can offer a large, medium and small and in different colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding a Variable Product<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Set the Product Type<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To add a variable product, create a new product or edit an existing one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Go to: WooCommerce ><\/strong> Products<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Select the Add Product<\/strong> button or Edit<\/strong> an existing product. The Product Data displays.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Select Variable product<\/strong> from the Product Data<\/strong> dropdown.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Add Attributes to Use for Variations<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    In the Attributes<\/strong> section, add attributes<\/a> before creating variations \u2014 use global attributes that are site-wide or define custom ones specific to a product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Global Attributes<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    To use a global attribute on your product:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    1. First create<\/a> a global attribute.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Then you can choose said global attribute from the dropdown and select Add<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Choose Select all<\/strong> to add all values from to the variable product (if applicable).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Most importantly select the Used for variations<\/strong> checkbox to use these for variations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Select Save attributes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Custom Attributes<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      To add a new attribute specific to this product:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Select Custom product attribute<\/strong> and click Add<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Name the attribute (e.g., Size).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Set values separated by a vertical pipe, |<\/code> (e.g., Small | Medium | Large<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Make sure that the Used for variations checkbox<\/strong> is checked. (Note: If your creating the first attribute for the variable product, it can also be done from the \u201cVariations\u201d tab. However, here the \u201cUsed for variations<\/strong>\u201d checkbox will be checked and cannot be disabled)<\/li>\n\n\n\n

        Add Variations<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        With attributes created and saved to add a variation, go to the Variations<\/strong> section in the Product data<\/strong> meta box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Manually Add a Variation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

        1. Select Add variation<\/strong> from the dropdown menu, and select Go<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Select attributes for your variation. To change additional data, click the triangle icon to expand the variation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Edit any available data. The only required field is Regular Price.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
        4. Select Save changes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Creating All Possible Variations<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

          Select Create variations from all attributes<\/strong> to have WooCommerce create every possible combination of variations from your attributes and their values and select Go<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          It will create a new variation for each and every possible combination of variation attributes (max 50 per run). If you have more possible combinations you can run it again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          For example, if you have two attributes \u2013 color (with values blue and green) and size (with values large and small) it creates the following variations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
